Information

Dr Zonghan Xie is a Senior Lecturer in Materials Science and Engineering. His research is focused upon the microstructure – mechanical property relationship of biological and engineering materials including coatings and films, particularly at the micron and nanoscale. In his research, Dr Xie has endeavoured to reveal critical structural factors that regulate the mechanical behaviour of materials by combining advanced mechanical testing techniques with state-of-the-art electron microscopes. Dr Xie had worked at UNSW, University of Sydney and the Centre for Integrated Nanotechnologies of Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA before joining ECU. Dr Xie is a Visiting Research Fellow of UNSW (School of Materials Sci. & Eng.) and a reviewer for Biomater, J Mater Res, Scr Mater, J Compos Mater and Thin Solid Films. Dr Xie is currently teaching three units, i.e. Properties of Engineering Materials, Engineering Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics, and received the Executive Dean’s Academic Award for excellent teaching.
