Introduction

Some knowledge of mathematics and statistics is essential for decision making both in industry and the service professions. Students at Edith Cowan University can study mathematics and statistics within the Bachelor of Science Degree. The program offered emphasises Calculus, Operations Research, Applied Statistics and Mathematical Modelling. There is a commitment to the use of technology in the teaching of mathematics and statistics and the students are introduced to a range of relevant computer packages. Minors in Mathematics, Statistics and Engineering Mathematics are available.

At the postgraduate level the focus is on applications of statistics, with a Graduate Diploma of Science (Mathematics), Postgraduate Certificate in Geostatistics and postgraduate research in time series analysis and geostatistics.
